January 2021
Cadets are still continuing with their virtual parade nights and staff are busy coming up with new ideas to keep the cadets busy!
January saw the first virtual build competition, where cadets where tasked with building the strongest towers which had to support 400g, using specific materials.
The winner was cadet Bennett whose tower supported 3.6kg.
December 2020
In December, Squadron staff were given the go ahead to enter the squadron and prep the squadron for cadets to return!
Staff were busy getting social distancing measures in place ready for the return of face to face parade nights.
November 2020
November 2020 saw the annual payments of respects for the fallen take place.
However Armistice day looked very different this year and instead of the usual parade through Mold town centre, cadets stood proudly on their door steps to pay their respects and take part in the national moments silence.
May 2020
May 2020 saw the 75th anniversary of VE day.
Cadets shared their celebrations of VE day over our virtual parade nights – there was some great looking afternoon teas and bunting!
June 2020
In June cadets continued with virtual parade nights.
One of the activities was a ‘protect your egg’ competition where cadets had to use recycled materials to create protection for their egg and then drop them from a height.
This was great activity for all the cadets to get to involved in from home during lockdown!
May 2020
Since lockdown, cadets have moved to online virtual parade nights and have been busy taking part in many virtual activities via Microsoft teams.
These activities have been varied including quizzes, training, leadership tasks, craft exercises and teaching new skills.
March 2020
In March cadets travelled to RAF Little Risslington where they took part in some flying and gliding training.
Some cadets were lucky enough to have a go on their state of the art flight sim and were awarded their blue wings.
March 2020
March saw three of our cadets take part in an L98 training weekend.
Over the Weekend our cadets completed training on the L98 and consequently passed the L98 weapons handling test.
February 2020
February saw the cadets celebrating shrove Tuesday by cooking pancakes for everyone on the squadron!
November 2019
The Squadron joined the country in paying its respects this Armistice day.
Joining the Army Cadets, Service men/women, Venterans and other youth organisations from Mold, the parade was led through town to St. Mary’s Church for the annual service.
The parade then re-assembled to honour the fallen servicemen and women by the towns war memorial for a minitues silence and to lay wreaths.
This is a very important event in the squadron calendar and attendance is expected.
September 2019
The squadron opened its doors to potential new cadets, who came to see what the squadron and the organisation can offer.
The night usually includes cadets showcasing what we do best – including drill, first aid, modelling and leadership.
The squadron holds recruitment nights bi-annually (September and March) if your interested in joining be sure to to let us know.
August 2019
In August cadets from the squadron attended the drill & ceremonial (D&C) Camp at RAF Scampton.
Cadets were able to take part in many different drill and ceremonial activities, including banner drill, foot drill and rifle drill.
August 2019
Cadets from 1378 (Mold) Squadron were joined by cadets from other local squadrons where they participated in the 3rd annual water activities camp at Bala.
Over the 2 day camp cadets enjoyed taking part in canoeing, gorge walking and raft building.
This is a highlight in the squadron calendar and is great fun for the staff and cadets!
July 2019
Cpl Fudge completed the famous Nijmegan marches.
This consists of 4 days of marching 160km in total.
This march has been taking place in the Netherlands since 1916 and takes a lot of courage, determination and teamwork to complete it successfully.
June 2019
We received our prize for winning the 2018 RAF Engineering competition at RAF Cosford Air show, where we showcased the design that won the competition as well as the prize simulator.
This was the culmination of some very hard work put in by both the cadets and the staff team – it was great result for the squadron!
April 2019
In April cadets went and took part in the inter-wing Athletics competition.
Competing against cadets from other squadrons across the wing, in events such as the 100m, Discus and Javelin.
Cadets are now waiting to see if they’ve been selected to represent the wing later in the year.
March 2019
March saw a number of our cadets represent the wing at inter-region hockey at RAF Cosford – creating a team of cadets from across all of number 2 welsh wing.
December 2018
Cadets visited the local fire station in Mold, organised by CI Owen.
Cadets got to learn about all the different equipment used by fire fighters, try on some of this equipment and they even got a go using the huge water hoses!
This was definitely a great opportunity for cadets!
November 2018
Cadets took part in the inter-wing cross-country competition.
Despite the cold weather cadets did the squadron proud – winning the under 17 boy’s category and coming 1st and 2nd in the Junior girls category.
Excellent team effort from our cadets!
October 2018
October saw our cadets achieve many different awards.
Cadets were presented with certificates by our Commanding Officer for a variety of achievements including Bronze Cyber Awards, BTEC’s and sports.
October also saw some of our cadets being promoted and moving through the ranks.
September 2018
September marked the beginning of our recruitment for the second half of the year.
Cadets showcased activities to perspective cadets, including drill, leadership, shooting and first Aid.
Our recruitment intakes happen twice a year – March and September but if your interested early then get in touch.

FS Robbins and Cpl Owens successfully completed their final Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition.
August 2018
In August Cadets attended the unveiling of the Silent Solider in Daniel Owen Square, Mold.
In attendance was the Mayor of Mold and other representatives from Mold.
July 2018
In July 2018 CWO Davies flew out to Canada as part of the International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE).
CWO Davies spent 2 weeks touring the East Coast of Canada with VIP treatment.
Meeting Cadets from all over the world and taking part in some once in a life time opportunities.
This is definitely the highlight of a cadet career!
